How do I link to pages within NewsUK?

New to this version of NewsUK is the facility to link directly to certain pages of NewsUK from library or other websites. All the links are durable (i.e. they will always point to the correct page, even if the page URL changes) and are Open URL compliant. (More information is available on the Open URL standard from The Open URL Committee web site).

The following pages currently have this linking facility:

  • View Issue main page and individual newspaper pages
  • Regional News main page
  • News Topics main page and individual Topic pages
  • Full Details pages.

To add a link to your library web site, go to the page you are interested in linking to. Click on the "Link to this page" link and a pop-up window will appear with the URL that you need to use. Copy and paste this URL to use in your website.

How can I use this in my library or organisation?

Some examples of how you can use these links to get more out of your NewsUK subscription:

  • Link to the Browse page for the Which? Guide to Scotland from a course guide for Leisure and Tourism GNVQ students who have a question about tourist attractions in Scotland.
  • Link to the Local Information page for your town on the library web site.
  • Link to the Life Event on "Choosing a school for your child" from your council website's area on education.
