What are News Topic pages?News Topic pages gather together a range of materials of relevance to a particular subject, including articles, images, and Web sites. You can use News Topic pages to obtain background and contextual information on contemporary issues such as global warming and terrorism. How do I view a News Topic?The main News Topics page lists 131 topics under 15 broad thematic headings. Click on an underlined name to open the relevant topic page. What can I do from a News Topic page?Each News Topic is divided into several sections. You can scroll down the page to the section you are interested in or click on a heading in the list near the top of the page to jump straight to a particular section. From the Recent headlines and Background reading sections you can click on an underlined title to view the full text of an article. Key articles which may be a useful starting point to the topic are marked with the You can view full-size images with captions from the Images section and print them. You can open carefully selected Web sites from the Web links section and suggest useful Web sites we might add to the section. You can view related News Topics by clicking on a link in the Related Topics section. If your library is also subscribed to KnowUK an additional section (KnowUK links) may appear on some News Topic pages allowing you to go directly to relevant materials in KnowUK, our reference service. How do I change News Topic?Click the link Choose another News Topic at the top of the page and choose a new topic from the list on the main News Topics page. |
