NewsUK Help: Full Article

What information is shown on the page?

The Full Article page shows the complete text of the article you selected. Header and copyright details appear above the full text.

NewsUK also has PDF versions of articles for some of its magazines. If a PDF version of an article is available a Full text – PDF link will be shown. Click on this link to open the PDF article in a new browser window.

What does the coloured text indicate?

The words you searched for are shown in red. For example, if you search for "local government" the words "local" and "government" will appear in red when you are viewing an article.

How can I move to other articles?

Use the navigation options in the left-hand bar to move to other articles.

Use the View previous/next article links to display the full text for the previous or next article in the List of Results or List of Articles.

Alternatively, use the Go back to List of Results/Articles link to go back to the list, browse through it and choose another article to view.

If you opened the full text from the List of Articles you can use the date options at the top of the page to view the list of articles for another issue.

If you opened the full text from a News Topic you can click the Go back to News Topic link and choose another item to view.

How do I print out the page?

  1. Click the Print this article link at the top of the page.
    A pop-up window will appear with the record you have chosen displayed in printable format.
  2. Choose Print from the File menu on your browser toolbar.
  3. Make any changes you need to on the Print dialog box, then click OK.

How do I email an article?

  1. Click the Email this article link at the top of the page.
    A pop-up window will open displaying the email record form.
  2. Enter your email address and any notes you wish to add;
  3. Click Send.

A copy of the record will be sent to the email address you have specified. If you have added any notes they will appear at the top of the email.

How can I add an article to My Archive?

You can add articles to the Saved Records area of My Archive. If you have not already logged in to My Archive with your username and password, you will need to do so.

See here for more information on creating a My Archive user profile.

You can save an article by clicking the Save this article link in the left-hand navigation bar.

If you have not created any folders in My Archive, you will be prompted to enter a name for a new folder in which you wish to save your article. Type the name of the folder and click Save.

If you have already created folders in My Archive, you can either choose to save the article to an existing folder by choosing from the drop-down list, or create a new folder as shown above.

What else can I do from the Full Article page?

If your library is also subscribed to KnowUK, an additional link will appear on the Full Article, allowing you to execute the same search in KnowUK, our reference service.

You can also click the Link to this page link and copy and paste the durable URL to set up links to NewsUK pages from your library website.
